A VISA FOR ADVENTURE :
The dakar has its store of stirring, touching tales to be told. Such is its vocation. Stories which surprise and delight, stories wich transport us to a different world or make us sad sometimes. The 2006 race scenario was rich in rebounds, with one day's winners often becoming next day's losers, as if to underligne that the Dakar's no.1 rule is endurance. And it's precisely the quality the winners used to go all the way through.
The sporting success of the 2006 Dakar owes a lot to the changes brought about regulations. Highlighting navigation is above all a way of respecting and rewarding the spirit of the Dakar. Preparation for the 2007 edition will be focusing along the same essential lines. The taste for adventure remains the common denominator for all those in the caravan, and Mauritania is the ideal destination for this type of challenge. We shall therefore be continuing to explore it in-depth, certain that we shall discover new 'unknown' territories. [...]
Wether it be that of our partners, institutional heads or the public at large, the enthusiasm of Africans continues to be expressed along the route and throughout the rally's preparation. Our duty is to respond to this interest, with the relevant sense of responsability. The work goes on. The adventure too.
